In a notable move within the tech industry, Amazon has announced its acquisition of Fauna Robotics, an innovative startup co-founded by former engineers from Meta and Google. Fauna Robotics is recognized for its creation of Sprout, an anthropomorphic robot standing 107 centimeters tall, which demonstrates capabilities such as walking, dancing, and precise object manipulation. This acquisition highlights the continued trend of major technology firms investing significantly in advanced robotics.
The entire Fauna Robotics team, comprising 50 employees along with co-founders Rob Cochran and Josh Merel, will integrate into Amazon’s workforce. They are expected to relocate from their current offices in New York to Amazon’s local facilities within the city. The specific financial terms of the agreement have not been publicly disclosed.
