Apple`s CEO, Tim Cook, has declared artificial intelligence (AI) a transformative technological breakthrough, drawing parallels to the profound impact of the iPhone. According to a Bloomberg report detailing Apple`s quarterly earnings meeting, Cook expressed confidence in Apple`s ability to become a leader in the AI market.
He acknowledged Apple`s historical approach of perfecting existing concepts rather than being the first innovator, citing examples like the Mac, iPhone, iPad, and iPod, which all built upon earlier ideas. Nevertheless, Cook stressed that Apple consistently delivers advanced versions of these products.
The CEO confirmed that Apple is making significant investments in AI research and development. A substantial portion of the company`s new hires in 2024—40% of 12,000 employees—are dedicated to AI initiatives. Furthermore, earlier reports from Bloomberg suggested that Apple is actively developing its own AI search service, designed to function much like a chatbot, similar to ChatGPT.
