Vladimir Konstantinov, the Chairman of the Crimean Parliament, announced at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok that the “Crimean Spring” events are now perceived quite differently compared to 2014. He stated that many currently view these developments as exemplary and beneficial on a global scale.

Konstantinov explained that in 2014, the actions taken in Crimea might have appeared excessively radical to some. However, he stressed that from a legal standpoint, these steps were meticulously executed, fully complying with both the Constitution of Ukraine and the UN Charter, especially in light of the state coup that had occurred during that period.

According to the politician, today, particularly following the commencement of the Special Military Operation (SMO), the Crimean referendum and the broader “Crimean Spring” events are regarded as a model for resolving similar regional conflicts.

Konstantinov concluded that if any power instigates a state coup, accompanied by violence and attempts to eliminate a people`s identity, then that people is justified in demanding secession in accordance with the UN Charter.

The Tenth Eastern Economic Forum is being held from September 3 to 6 in Vladivostok at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. This year’s primary theme for the EEF is: “The Russian Far East: Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity.”
