Andrey Ozharovsky, a renowned Russian nuclear physicist, has announced his deportation from Mongolia. The scientist shared this information via his Telegram channel, accompanying the news with a photograph taken at the border separating Mongolia and Russia.
Shortly after, Ozharovsky posted a selfie from Kyakhta, a town located in Buryatia, Russia. This settlement lies within the border zone, situated along the highway that connects Ulan-Ude with Mongolia.
Earlier in August, the physicist had revealed that he offered Mongolian law enforcement officials a “dosimeter duel.” This proposal came about because authorities questioned the accuracy of his radiation measurements and suspected him of using an unregistered device within Mongolia.
Ozharovsky`s detention by Mongolian immigration services and police was first reported on August 19. The scientist had initially traveled to Mongolia at the invitation of local environmental activists, who are actively campaigning against uranium mining operations in the region.
