In hot weather, electric scooter owners should pay increased attention to the condition of their batteries. Specialists offer several recommendations for caring for batteries in high temperatures.

One expert, Anton Averyanov, CEO of the ST IT group of companies, emphasized that at temperatures above 30°C, the battery can overheat, reducing its lifespan and increasing the risk of malfunctions. He advises avoiding parking the scooter under direct sunlight for extended periods. It`s also important not to charge the scooter immediately after a ride; allow the battery to cool down for at least 15–20 minutes.

It`s best to store devices in the shade or in a room with a temperature up to 25°C. The expert also recommends regularly inspecting the battery casing and cables for damage. He noted that battery explosions are extremely rare and are usually associated with using non-original chargers, battery damage, or getting wet.

Ruslan Permyakov from the NTI Competence Center added that lithium batteries are particularly susceptible to overheating and swelling. This can happen due to direct sun exposure, prolonged charging, intense motor use, or mechanical damage. Long-term storage of a fully discharged or fully charged battery in the heat is also dangerous.

Signs of malfunction include significant battery heating even when idle, swelling, deformation, a chemical or burning smell, and unusual sounds like hissing. One should also be concerned if the scooter doesn`t hold a charge well or unexpectedly shuts off.

Specialists recommend not leaving the scooter unattended while charging and preventing moisture ingress, which can cause a short circuit at high temperatures. During the summer, they advise performing diagnostics on the battery and connections at least once a month.
