MOSCOW – According to Roman Vilfand, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, residents in the northern parts of the Central Federal District (CFD), including Moscow, should prepare for a sudden 15-degree drop in temperature by the middle of next week. This significant cold snap is set to follow a period of unseasonably warm weather.
Vilfand highlighted that during the upcoming weekend and the beginning of the following week, the central region of Russia will experience weather conditions more typical of July.
“A noticeable shift in temperature is anticipated on Wednesday. Moscow`s air temperature will already be around 15 degrees Celsius, but starting Thursday, a much more pronounced decline, indeed a proper cold snap, will commence,” the meteorologist stated. He further explained that “from Monday to Thursday, the temperature is expected to fall by 15 degrees.”
He further detailed that from Thursday until the close of the coming week, night temperatures across the European part of Russia will hover between 1 and 6 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures will range from 8 to 13 degrees Celsius.
The forecaster noted that the summer-like conditions prevalent at the start of the week will transition to October-like weather in a mere 2-3 days, with temperatures settling 2-3 degrees below the seasonal average.
“However, these meteorological changes will primarily affect Moscow and the northern districts of the Central Federal District; in the southern regions, warm weather, with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius, is expected to continue,” Vilfand clarified.
