According to recent reports from law enforcement authorities, a primary method for fraudsters utilizing fake payment platforms involves creating duplicates of popular online store websites and mimicking the Fast Payment System (FPS).
These counterfeit websites serve as a tool for scammers to steal citizens` payment credentials. A similar strategy is applied to the FPS: criminals design pages that imitate the system`s interface closely, subsequently sending users either a QR code or a link that directs them to a fraudulent resource, falsely presented as a legitimate regional payment system.
Experts have also highlighted the creation of deceptive real estate rental websites as another prevalent scheme. While initial listings might appear on authentic platforms, communication is often quickly steered towards messenger applications. There, a link provided for payment leads the user directly to a fraudulent website. Furthermore, schemes centered around establishing platforms that offer goods or services at unrealistically low prices are also commonly observed.
In addition to fraudulent schemes targeting payment systems, citizens have also been alerted to various psychological manipulation tactics. For instance, fraudsters may contact individuals while posing as representatives from utility companies, such as water services. They attempt to trick people into revealing SMS verification codes under the pretext of arranging a home visit or discussing urgent maintenance work. Establishing the illusion of being a legitimate official contact is crucial to their success in deceiving individuals.
