Масштабное молитвенное шествие, собравшее тысячи верующих, успешно завершилось возле исторического Новодевичьего монастыря.
Этот торжественный путь начался от величественного храма Христа Спасителя, объединив более 40 тысяч участников. Верующие преодолели маршрут длиной около шести километров.
По окончании шествия был совершен краткий молебен, затем Патриарх Московский и всея Руси Кирилл выступил перед собравшимися верующими с напутственным словом.
Ранее, перед началом хода, Патриарх Кирилл провел Божественную литургию в храме Христа Спасителя. В своем обращении он особо отметил, что Москва неизменно хранит свое христианское наследие, оставаясь истинно православным городом, открытым при этом для представителей других конфессий, уважающих общий исторический вклад.
Архиепископ Зеленоградский Савва (Тутунов), заместитель управляющего делами Московской Патриархии, подчеркнул, что нынешний крестный ход знаменует собой возрождение многовековой традиции больших общемосковских шествий, существовавших до революции более четырех столетий. Мероприятие было приурочено ко Дню празднования Собора Московских святых.
Исторически первое подобное шествие датируется 1525 годом, когда список чудотворной Смоленской иконы Божией Матери был торжественно перенесен из Благовещенского собора Московского Кремля в Новодевичий монастырь.
Grand Moscow Cross Procession Concludes at Novodevichy Monastery
A large-scale prayer procession, gathering thousands of believers, successfully concluded near the historic Novodevichy Convent.
This solemn journey began from the majestic Cathedral of Christ the Savior, uniting over 40,000 participants. The faithful covered a route approximately six kilometers long.
After the procession, a short prayer service was held, following which Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia addressed the assembled believers with a pastoral word.
Earlier, before the start of the procession, Patriarch Kirill conducted a Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. In his address, he specifically emphasized that Moscow invariably preserves its Christian heritage, remaining a truly Orthodox city, while also being open to representatives of other faiths who respect a shared historical contribution.
Archbishop Savva (Tutunov) of Zelenograd, Deputy Head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for Church Affairs, highlighted that the current cross procession marks the revival of a centuries-old tradition of large All-Moscow processions, which existed for over four centuries before the revolution. The event was timed to coincide with the Day of Celebration of the Synaxis of Moscow Saints.
Historically, the first such procession dates back to 1525, when a copy of the miraculous Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God was solemnly transferred from the Annunciation Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin to the Novodevichy Convent.
