Two hacker collectives, Silent Crow and “Cyberpartisans BY,” have announced their alleged involvement in the recent disruptions to the Russian airline Aeroflot`s information systems. The groups made their claims public via Telegram.

“Together with our colleagues from `Cyberpartisans BY,` we declare the successful execution of a prolonged and large-scale operation, which resulted in the complete compromise and destruction of Aeroflot`s internal IT infrastructure,” the groups stated.

According to the hackers, they maintained a presence within the corporate network for an entire year. During this extended period, they reportedly extracted a comprehensive array of flight history data and successfully compromised critical corporate systems. Furthermore, the cybercriminals assert that they gained unauthorized access to personal computers of employees, including those belonging to the company`s leadership.

Silent Crow claims that the total volume of data acquired during the operation exceeds 20 terabytes. The attackers also stated that this attack led to the theft of personal data belonging to Russian citizens who had utilized Aeroflot`s services.

Earlier reports indicated that the prosecutor`s office was monitoring the situation concerning Aeroflot`s system malfunction, stating that the agency was conducting supervisory measures.

On the morning of July 28, Aeroflot officially announced that its information systems were experiencing a malfunction. As a direct consequence of these issues, dozens of the company`s flights were canceled.
