If funds from an unknown sender are credited to your bank card, it is essential to immediately notify the bank about this suspicious transaction. This crucial advice was given to Russian citizens by Irina Glushkova, Chairperson of the Financial Literacy Committee of the Moscow branch of “Opora Rossii,” in an interview with the “Prime” agency.

“If unexpected money arrives on your card, you should promptly report it via your online banking chat, and then personally visit a branch to file a statement,” Glushkova explained. She added that the statement should clarify that the payment was unforeseen and that you wish for it to be returned to the sender.

The expert further noted that the bank will provide guidance on the next steps, including whether it is necessary to contact law enforcement agencies regarding the unsolicited transfer.

Important Note: This recommendation comes in the context of increasing cybercrime. Previously, the Ministry of Internal Affairs published a list of “code phrases” commonly used by telephone scammers, highlighting the ongoing threat of financial deception.
