NALCHIK – A regional court in Ingushetia has ordered the pre-trial detention of an employee from the Ministry of Education and Science for two months. The individual is suspected of embezzling over 10.7 million rubles in funds designated for compensating educators involved in conducting the Unified State Exam (USE), as reported by the regional Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
Previously, the agency reported the initiation of a criminal case concerning the alleged misappropriation of more than 10.7 million rubles by officials of the regional Ministry of Education between 2021 and 2022. These funds were specifically allocated for payments to teachers engaged in preparing and administering the USE. The illicit activity was reportedly carried out through the falsification of contracts and work completion acts.
One of the suspects was apprehended on Wednesday, with searches conducted at both the Ministry premises and her place of residence. The Magas District Court, acting on the investigators` request, ruled to remand the suspect in custody until September 30, 2025. Investigators anticipate formally charging her with the alleged crimes in the near future.
