Fortnite’s decline reportedly began in 2025, coinciding with Epic Games’ financial results turning negative. According to CEO Tim Sweeney, the company had been spending “significantly more than it earned.”
In response, Epic Games is implementing widespread layoffs, hoping to generate substantial cost savings to stabilize its finances. Alongside these job cuts, the company plans to reduce other expenditures, including marketing and certain contracts, and will not replace departing employees. These combined measures are expected to save approximately 500 million euros. Such widespread cutbacks suggest a potentially challenging future for the creator of Fortnite.
