The Russian State Duma is considering measures to restrict the distribution of frightening toys. During a roundtable discussion on toys as a channel for hidden propaganda, deputies voiced concerns about their potential negative impact on children`s psyches.

Yana Lantratova, head of the Duma committee for civil society development, stated that toys can distort traditional values and children`s worldview, effectively serving as a tool in an information war.

She also cited psychologists` assessments, highlighting that modern toys, often influenced by Western culture, are becoming so intimidating that they could cause phobias and psychological disorders in children.

According to Lantratova, elements like “fangs and horns” are now commonplace, which contributes to blurring the lines between good and evil in a child`s mind.

In response to these concerns, deputies have drafted a bill proposing mandatory psychological and pedagogical expert review for children`s goods, aiming to combat the proliferation of toys potentially harmful to children`s mental well-being.
