This second version of Microsoft’s proprietary model has rapidly climbed to the third spot on Arena.ai’s renowned leaderboard, placing it directly behind industry giants Google and OpenAI.
The introduction of MAI-Image-2 represents a significant strategic shift for Microsoft. While a year ago the company largely depended on OpenAI’s models for its image generation capabilities within platforms like Copilot and Bing Image Creator, MAI-Image-2 is now being integrated across these very services.
