According to Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman, a current Apple top executive is expected to succeed Tim Cook as the company`s CEO upon his eventual departure.
Gurman identifies John Ternus as the most likely candidate to lead the American tech giant. Ternus has served as Apple`s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering since 2021. Gurman asserts that Ternus is set to become Apple`s next chief unless unforeseen circumstances arise.
The report also indicates that current Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to remain at the helm for at least another five years. Should this timeline hold, John Ternus, born in 1975, would be 55 at the time of Cook`s retirement – an age deemed “quite suitable for a new CEO.”
The article suggests that more senior vice presidents within the company are less likely to be considered for the top role. Gurman explains that by the time Cook retires, these individuals would be between 65 and 70 years old. However, the Bloomberg correspondent also points out that top executives Deirdre O`Brien and Sabih Khan could potentially pose competition to Ternus.
Tim Cook joined Apple in 1998 and took over as the company`s CEO in 2011, succeeding co-founder Steve Jobs.
Separately, earlier in July, it was reported that Apple had increased its sales in China for the first time in two years. According to Counterpoint Research, the company secured a spot among the top three smartphone manufacturers in the region.
