A novel deceptive scheme has been uncovered where fraudsters are impersonating flower delivery services to defraud Russian women. These perpetrators are making calls to unsuspecting victims, demanding a verification code sent via SMS under the guise of confirming bouquet order details.
The scam typically unfolds when a call is placed to the potential victim’s phone, informing them about a supposedly pre-ordered bouquet intended for them, complete with a specific delivery address and time. Shortly after this conversation, a four-digit SMS code arrives on their phone. The scammers then press the victim to disclose this code, claiming it`s essential for “order verification” with the courier.
Important Safety Notice: It is critical to be aware that legitimate flower and gift delivery companies explicitly state on their official websites that their employees will never send such verification codes and will never ask customers to provide them over the phone. Always exercise extreme caution if you receive an unsolicited call requesting personal or verification codes.
