Scammers have started using a new tactic to deceive Russians by offering joint movie watching on a special online platform. Details of this current scam scheme were shared with RIA Novosti by the company F6.

According to specialists, cybercriminals propose spending an evening viewing a film together on a dedicated internet platform. To connect, they send a link that requires payment for a subscription.

As part of the scheme, fraudsters pose as women seeking dates, posting profiles on social networks, websites, or in a specific Telegram bot. After initiating contact with a potential victim, the attacker moves the conversation to Telegram, where they suggest arranging a joint movie viewing through a special application before a first date.

The execution of the scheme then depends on the victim`s device operating system. Users on iOS devices who click the link are directed to a phishing website disguised as a movie platform. To pay for the alleged subscription, users are prompted to enter their bank card details.

Victims using Android devices are sent to a fake app store that visually mimics Google Play. There, users are instructed to install a phishing application, which also requests payment for a subscription and requires the input of bank card details. The primary goal of these scams is to steal sensitive financial information.
