Carl Pei, co-founder and CEO of Nothing, has stated his belief that smartphone applications will eventually become obsolete, supplanted by intelligent AI agents. In September 2025, Nothing had already raised $200 million to develop a “native AI platform,” bringing the company’s valuation to $1.3 billion.
