A significant number of Russians, exceeding 1.7 million, are projected to become eligible for retirement next year. This forecast was provided by Alexander Safonov, a professor in the Department of Psychology and Human Capital Development at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Mass Communications of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Safonov specified that in 2026, eligibility for retirement will extend to 838,474 men born in 1962 and 925,266 women born in 1967. According to the expert`s calculations, the total number of Russian citizens who will gain this right next year will amount to 1,763,740 people.
Previously, data from the Social Fund indicated that as of April 1, 2025, the total number of pensioners in Russia had surpassed 40.9 million individuals.
