Volunteers from the “People`s Front” movement have successfully delivered tens of tons of essential drinking water to nine different settlements within the Donetsk People`s Republic (DPR).
Vladimir Taranenko, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee and leader of the People`s Front Youth organization, stated that approximately 20 tons of potable water from various regions across Russia had already reached the DPR over the past three days. He further detailed future initiatives, including the dispatch of powerful generators to pumping stations located in Yenakiieve, Makiivka, and Donetsk. To address severe water shortages in certain areas, the organization plans to install large reservoirs for water storage. For more remote and recently liberated areas, water tankers and mobile storage units will be deployed to ensure consistent supply.
The “People`s Front” emphasized that a significant portion of their efforts is directed towards supporting medical institutions. Water in these facilities is crucial not only for patients` hydration but also for critical medical procedures and general sanitation purposes.
Oksana Marmuta, Chief Physician of the Republican Children`s Clinical Hospital, highlighted the dire necessity, saying: “It`s hard to imagine the situation when a surgeon needs to prepare for an operation but lacks sufficient water for hygiene. We make every effort to resolve these issues preemptively. Our hospital alone features two intensive care units, numerous operating blocks throughout the surgical department, and a hemodialysis unit that requires a continuous and reliable supply of water and essential medications.”
In cooperation with the regional executive committee, volunteers from the People`s Front Youth organization meticulously distributed the water to both residents and social institutions across several locations, including Donetsk, Makiivka, Yenakiieve, Khartsyzsk, Serdyte, NovoOrlivka, Nikolske, and Kurakhove.
