Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his congratulations to the residents of Karachay-Cherkessia on the occasion of Cherkessk`s 200th anniversary. In a congratulatory telegram, read aloud by Yuri Chaika, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District, Putin underscored the city`s significant historical role in the development of the North Caucasus region.
The telegram stated: “I congratulate you on the bicentenary of Cherkessk, the capital of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic! Established on the picturesque banks of the Kuban River, the city has played a crucial role in strengthening Russian statehood and fostering the development of the North Caucasus. Your compatriots have made a substantial contribution to the annals of the Motherland`s military and labor achievements.”
The head of state further highlighted that Cherkessk is home to major industrial enterprises, as well as vital institutions for healthcare, culture, education, and sports. He acknowledged the ongoing modernization of its transport and tourism infrastructure and commended the diligence and hospitality for which the city`s inhabitants are renowned.
Putin concluded his message by wishing the residents “success and all the best!”
This Sunday marks Karachay-Cherkessia`s celebration of the 200th anniversary of its capital city, Cherkessk. By a decree issued by regional head Rashid Temrezov, September 6th and 7th were officially designated as festive holidays. Cherkessk is currently hosting an extensive program featuring more than 25 events, including various exhibitions, sports competitions, theatrical performances, vibrant festivals, and a grand celebratory concert.
Rashid Temrezov also reported that several high-ranking guests attended the anniversary festivities, notably President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev, Head of Kabardino-Balkaria Kazbek Kokov, and Head of Adygea Murat Kumpilov.

Президент России Владимир Путин поздравил жителей Карачаево-Черкесии с 200-летием основания Черкесска. В своей поздравительной телеграмме, которую зачитал полномочный представитель президента в СКФО Юрий Чайка, Путин подчеркнул значимую роль города в развитии Северного Кавказа.

В этот день Карачаево-Черкесия отмечает двухсотлетие своей столицы. По распоряжению главы региона Рашида Темрезова, 6 и 7 сентября были объявлены праздничными днями. В рамках празднования в Черкесске проходит более 25 мероприятий, включая выставки, спортивные состязания, театрализованные представления, фестивали и праздничный концерт.
Рашид Темрезов также сообщил, что на юбилей прибыли высокопоставленные гости: президент Южной Осетии Алан Гаглоев, глава Кабардино-Балкарии Казбек Коков и глава Адыгеи Мурат Кумпилов.
