Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially signed into law new legislation enabling organizations to be designated as extremist. This can occur based on a court verdict issued against a leader, founder, or any participant of the organization for extremist activities. The corresponding legal document has been made public on the official government portal for legal acts.

Furthermore, the new law stipulates that an extremist community can also be formally classified as an extremist organization. This takes effect once a guilty verdict in a criminal case is rendered against an individual for the establishment, leadership, or participation in such a community, as defined by Article 282.1 of the Russian Criminal Code, titled “organization of an extremist community.”
