MOSCOW – President Vladimir Putin has extended his congratulations to the active personnel and veterans of the Airborne Troops (VDV) on their professional holiday.

“I congratulate you on your professional holiday and the 95th anniversary of the Airborne Troops,” Putin stated. He added that the current generation of soldiers and officers upholds and enhances the glorious military traditions, honors the strong bonds of airborne brotherhood, courageously fights for truth and justice, and honorably defends national interests.

The representatives of the legendary “winged infantry” have inscribed numerous unforgettable chapters in the country`s heroic history. Their courage, fearlessness, and strength of spirit will always serve as an example of true patriotism, loyalty to the oath, and military duty, the President emphasized.

“These qualities are fully reflected in your powerful motto – `No one but us.` Everyone who served in the VDV has lived up to it,” Putin highlighted.

He specifically thanked the veterans of the Great Patriotic War for their participation in military operations. In conclusion, the head of state expressed confidence that Russian paratroopers would continue to make a significant contribution to strengthening the army`s combat power and ensuring the country`s defense capability and security. “I wish you success and all the best,” the President concluded.

VDV Day is celebrated annually in Russia on August 2.
