During a working meeting with Belgorod Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, President of Russia Vladimir Putin drew attention to the currently humble level of teacher salaries in the region.
“Regarding education, the level of teacher salaries is still modest,” Putin remarked during their discussion held in the Kremlin.
Gladkov responded that the current average salary is 58,000 rubles. He also shared that in 2022, the Belgorod region increased the funding standard for children to match that of gymnasiums and lyceums.
“This means we leveled the playing field for all 554 schools so they operate under equal conditions,” he explained.
The President clarified, “So it wouldn`t be high in one place and very low in another.”
Gladkov affirmed this, adding that all children in the region should have the same opportunities.
“Correct,” Putin responded.
