Anzor Muzayev, head of Rosobrnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science), confirmed that Russian school graduates will retain the right to retake one Unified State Exam (EGE) subject in 2026.
According to Muzayev, this option, introduced at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, will remain available to future graduates. He stated, “The right to retake the EGE in any subject will remain for graduates in subsequent years, as this opportunity arose in accordance with Russian President Vladimir Putin`s directive.”
In 2025, over 135,000 graduates took advantage of the EGE retake on additional days, July 3rd and 4th. This figure represents an increase of 30,500 individuals compared to the previous year.
This retake right was initially introduced by President Vladimir Putin in 2024. It is important to note that only current year graduates are eligible to retake an exam, and their previous score for that specific subject is automatically annulled upon retaking.
