MOSCOW. The Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia, Ella Pamfilova, announced an unprecedented number of applications for remote electronic voting (REV) in preparation for the single election day in 2025. To date, over 869,000 applications have been submitted, marking a significant increase compared to last year`s figures.

Pamfilova provided more detailed statistics during a CEC meeting, stating that precisely 869,455 applications have been registered for remote electronic voting. Additionally, 76,541 applications were received through the “Mobile Voter” application, further indicating a growing interest in digital participation.

Among the regions, Rostov Oblast has shown the highest engagement, with over 179,400 REV applications. It is closely followed by the Chuvash Republic, which has recorded more than 143,300 submissions, and Sverdlovsk Oblast, with over 131,000 applications. Residents in 24 regions across the Russian Federation can register their intent to vote online via the “My Elections” section on the “Gosuslugi” (State Services) portal.

The upcoming single election day, scheduled for September 14, 2025, will feature approximately 5,000 electoral campaigns of various levels across 81 regions of Russia. This extensive electoral schedule includes at least 20 direct elections for high-ranking officials. The remote electronic voting system will be deployed in 24 constituent entities of the Russian Federation for these elections. For context, in 2024, REV was implemented in 25 regions, with voting periods varying from one to three days.
