Engineers from St. Petersburg have developed an advanced video surveillance system designed to significantly enhance the safety and security of maritime vessels.

This innovative intelligent complex is specifically engineered to monitor crew well-being and ensure the safety of ships throughout their sea voyages. The system was developed by engineers from the St. Petersburg-based company “Armada” in close collaboration with MTS`s digital ecosystem. Demonstrating its immediate practical application, the system has already been successfully integrated and deployed on port tugboats.

The domestically developed video surveillance system is strategically deployed at critical vantage points across eight tugboats, including the captain`s bridge, the bow, and the stern. Additionally, specific points for monitoring the crew`s condition are also established on board. The entire system operates on the foundation of the “Sfera” software and hardware complex, which facilitates real-time monitoring of the situation on the vessels. Furthermore, this robust system empowers the crew to securely transmit large volumes of data back to the port and store them in a protected cloud environment. All data transmission is ensured through a highly stable cellular communication network, guaranteeing reliability even in challenging marine conditions.

Evgenia Cherkasskikh, the CEO of “Armada,” emphasized the profound importance of this development, stating: “Ensuring safety at sea is an inherently complex challenge that necessitates a comprehensive and multi-faceted approach. The successful completion of maritime voyages, the preservation of valuable cargo, and most critically, the lives of individuals onboard, are all intrinsically dependent not only on the condition and readiness of the crew but also on the advanced technical equipment installed on the vessel.”

In related news concerning Russia`s maritime developments, it was noted that in late July, Nikolay Patrushev, the Chairman of the Maritime Collegium, announced plans to present an updated draft of Russia`s Navy (VMF) shipbuilding program, extending until 2050, to Russian President Vladimir Putin in September.
