In Russia, a significant change is set to take effect for utility bill payments. Starting **March 1, 2026**, the final deadline for settling these bills will be extended by five days. This adjustment means that citizens will now have until the 15th of each month to make their payments, shifting from the previous 10th-day deadline.
Sergey Kolunov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services, announced this new measure. He emphasized that the primary goal of this extension is to provide residents with **more time to ensure timely payments**. Kolunov pointed out that this change is particularly beneficial for many who receive their salaries around the middle of the month, specifically on the 12th or 15th, thus reducing the risk of late payments and incurring penalties.
Furthermore, Kolunov highlighted the **mutual benefits** of this revised payment schedule for all stakeholders. For housing management companies (MCs) and utility providers, the extended deadline will streamline the processes of payment planning and processing. It is also expected to alleviate the administrative burden on their accounting departments during the busy beginning of each month.
Ultimately, this five-day extension is designed to create **additional convenience** for both the populace and the organizations responsible for delivering communal services, fostering smoother transactions and greater financial flexibility for households.
