Duma Deputy Dmitry Gusev, who serves as the First Deputy Head of the `A Just Russia — For Truth` faction, has put forward a proposal to designate September 1st as a paid day off specifically for parents.

According to Gusev, this initiative aims to transform Knowledge Day into a genuine celebration for both schoolchildren and their parents. He has called upon his fellow colleagues from other parliamentary factions to endorse the legislative bill, which is currently in the drafting phase.

The politician highlighted that September 1st often brings a mix of pride and anxiety for many parents, particularly those whose children are entering school for the first time. However, he noted that not all employers demonstrate understanding regarding this significant day. Gusev underscored the importance of legally guaranteeing the right to a full paid day off, as some employers currently compel parents to take unpaid leave or deduct this absence from their annual vacation allowance.
