MOSCOW. The Government of the Russian Federation has decided to allocate additional financial resources dedicated to the comprehensive renewal of public transport.
According to an official statement from the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport have been instructed, during the formation of the federal budget for 2026–2028, to earmark these additional funds for the public transport renewal program as part of the corresponding federal project. Special attention will also be given to the development of the railway infrastructure of the Central Transport Hub, as part of the national project “Infrastructure for Life.”
This directive was issued by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin following a strategic session focused on the accelerated development of the country`s transport infrastructure.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister issued several other instructions:
- By December 1, 2026, the transport strategy for the period up to 2030, with a forecast extending to 2035, must be updated.
- The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Economic Development are to submit proposals for the concept of the federal law “On Transport Policy” by November 5.
- The Ministry of Transport is tasked with proposing a concept for the scientific and technological development of Russia`s transport complex by November 28, targeting the year 2035.
- By October 1, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Economic Development are instructed to assess and analyze labor productivity in the transport sector and formulate a comprehensive set of additional measures to increase it, aiming to achieve no less than fifth place in labor productivity among all sectors of the Russian economy by 2030.
- The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media are to finalize the concept of the National Digital Transport and Logistics Platform by December 15, with particular emphasis on creating platform solutions for reducing logistics costs.
A report on the results of this work is expected to be submitted to the government no later than September 1.
