The Russian Ministry of Agriculture has voiced its support for the initiative to establish a standard that will officially recognize beer as a product of Russian origin. This was announced to journalists by the head of the department, Oksana Lut. According to her, this standard could serve as a basis for introducing state support measures for the brewing industry in the future.

Earlier on Friday, it was reported that Roskachestvo, in collaboration with industry experts, is developing a similar standard for Russian beer. This standard is expected to include requirements for a localization level of no less than 95% for production. The draft document is anticipated to be presented by the end of the current year.

Lut described the proposal, discussed at a recent event, for creating a “Russian Beer” brand or standard, analogous to the actively developing “Russian Wine” project, as “a very interesting proposition.” She stated, “We will certainly support this, and we will observe how its development progresses.” The Minister further emphasized that various support measures for the entire industry could be linked to this “Russian Beer” standard in the future.
