Renowned Russian pilots Fedor Konyukhov and Ivan Menyailo have successfully set a new national record for hot air balloon altitude. In his communication, Konyukhov confirmed that their hot air balloon, named “PhosAgro,” ascended to 10,464 meters, thereby decisively surpassing the previous national benchmark. He also indicated that the pilots were continuing their ascent, suggesting a potential for an even greater height to be achieved.
Precedent-Setting Performance
Prior to this groundbreaking flight, the national altitude record for hot air balloons stood at 10,266 meters. This record was established by another Russian pilot, Vitaly Nenashev, on May 30, 2019.
Other Endeavors by Fedor Konyukhov
Beyond this aeronautical triumph, Fedor Konyukhov was also engaged in other notable activities recently. In June, he participated in the unveiling of a monument dedicated to St. Nicholas in the Chelyabinsk region. This monument was erected on the shores of Lake Turgoyak, commemorating the launch of the all-Russian regatta known as “Fedor Konyukhov`s Travelers Cup.”
