The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) has issued a warning to Russian citizens regarding a fraudulent scheme involving individuals impersonating military recruitment office staff to obtain access codes for the “Gosuslugi” state services portal.

According to the MVD`s announcement via the “Herald of the Cyberpolice of Russia” Telegram channel, fraudsters are contacting Russians, posing as employees of military commissariats. They initiate dialogue under the pretext of arranging military registration documents or verifying personal information.

Following initial contact, the scammers request what they call an “electronic queue number.” However, this code is actually the vital authorization code required for logging into a user`s personal account on the “Gosuslugi” portal, which grants access to various state services and personal data.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs added that these malicious contacts often occur through the WhatsApp messenger. Law enforcement officials emphasized a key point for citizens: “State authorities, including military recruitment offices, do not make calls or request information through messengers.” This serves as a critical indicator of potential fraud.

This warning follows previous alerts concerning scams targeting citizens related to state exams (OGE and EGE), where fraudsters falsely promised guaranteed opportunities to retake tests.
