As summer approaches, rising temperatures can significantly impact PC performance, causing stutters, FPS drops, and even crashes. To prevent such issues, especially if high temperatures are already observed in spring, investing in a PC cooler is advisable. Air coolers are a cost-effective solution, and in today’s expensive market, Scythe stands out for its competitive pricing. Their new Magoroku dual-tower cooler is so affordably priced that the two included fans might individually cost more.

The rising cost of PC components, particularly RAM, has made building new computers more expensive. Fortunately, not all components have seen drastic price hikes; CPU coolers, for instance, have largely remained affordable. Certain brands are committed to offering competitively priced products to consumers.

Scythe Magoroku: A Dual-Tower Desktop PC Cooler Featuring Two Fans, 6 Heat Pipes, and a 155mm Height

While premium brands like Noctua are renowned for their exceptional cooling performance and low noise levels, their products often come with a hefty price tag. For those seeking powerful yet affordable alternatives, brands like Thermalright and Scythe offer compelling options. Scythe recently launched its new cooler, the SCMR-1000, officially named ‘Magoroku’. This cooler, initially teased in 2024 and prominently featured at Computex 2025, is now finally available. With a compact height of 155 mm and two 120mm fans (with a 26mm depth due to anti-vibration pads), it promises impressive cooling capabilities.

The included 120mm fans, featuring a design reminiscent of high-performance Noctua models, operate via PWM. They offer a broad speed range from 350 RPM (±200 RPM) to 2000 RPM (±10%), achieving an airflow from 7.68 to 60.29 CFM. Noise levels remain impressively low, ranging from 3 dBA to 26.88 dBA, while delivering a static pressure of up to 2.45 mmH2O.

The Cooler will be Available for Just 27 Euros, Including Two Fans, Various Socket Brackets, and Even a Screwdriver

This dual-tower cooler efficiently dissipates heat using 6 heat pipes, weighing 1,036 grams with the fans installed. It boasts broad compatibility, supporting Intel’s LGA 1851, 1700, 1200, and 115x sockets, as well as AMD’s AM4 and AM5 platforms, thus covering a vast array of modern and legacy CPUs. The good news is its price: it will be available on April 10th for 4,980 yen.

Thanks to the current low value of the Japanese Yen, 4,980 yen translates to an astonishingly low price of just 27 euros. Before you rush to find a retailer, it’s important to note that Scythe no longer directly operates in Europe following its bankruptcy. However, this doesn’t preclude its availability, as some stores may choose to import it.
