Governor Vasily Anokhin has announced that approximately 20,000 children in the Smolensk Region annually participate in health and wellness programs, underscoring the regional administration`s commitment to youth well-being.

The recently modernized “Goloevka” social and health center, situated in the Roslavl district, has commenced operations, welcoming its first groups. Currently, the center is hosting a specialized session for 88 young members of the regional “First Movement” organization.

Governor Anokhin highlighted that the expansion of the “Goloevka” center was made possible through the critical support of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and the Head of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko. This backing was provided under the federal program “Restoration and Development until 2030 of Children`s Recreation and Health Organizations in the Subjects of the Russian Federation.” He further elaborated that while the Smolensk Region already ensures the annual rejuvenation of about 20,000 children, the newly constructed facilities at “Goloevka” are projected to serve nearly 3,000 children annually on their own.

Significant upgrades to “Goloevka” were completed between 2024 and 2025, involving the construction of two new modern sleeping blocks. This expansion more than doubled the center`s accommodation capacity, increasing it from 96 to 188 individuals. Concurrently, existing facilities, including the dining hall, kitchen, assembly hall, medical unit, and classrooms for supplementary education, underwent extensive capital renovations.

Following the Governor`s directives, the grounds of the health center were also comprehensively improved. This included the installation of new children`s playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment, and a dedicated workout zone. Furthermore, the football field was revitalized, and the basketball and volleyball courts received new surfaces, artificial turf, and improved running tracks.

The “Goloevka” center extends its services beyond children, catering to various other community groups. These include large families, families with children with disabilities who require personalized care, elderly individuals, and veterans of the special military operation along with their family members.

A broad spectrum of medical services is available at “Goloevka,” encompassing physiotherapy, diverse therapeutic baths, Charcot`s douche, and specialized “mountain air” treatments. Crucially, the center has been fully adapted to provide a barrier-free environment for individuals with limited mobility, ensuring all areas and services are easily accessible.

Boasting a modern infrastructure for comprehensive relaxation and health improvement, the center`s large-scale renovation represents a substantial investment of over 282 million rubles.

Future plans for the center are robust: the current “Orlyata Rossii” (Eaglets of Russia) specialized session is set to benefit 50 children. Additionally, “Goloevka” will welcome 50 children from the partnered Mangush municipal district of the Donetsk People`s Republic for their upcoming autumn holidays. Further initiatives include health and wellness programs tailored for families with children with disabilities who need individual support.
