In light of Roskomnadzor`s recent actions to limit voice calls within Russia, the Telegram messenger has affirmed its ongoing commitment to actively combating the proliferation of harmful content and fraudulent activities on its platform.
Representatives for the company underscored that Telegram has implemented sophisticated privacy settings for calls, allowing every user the autonomy to decide who can contact them via calls, or to disable the calling feature entirely if they prefer.
Furthermore, it was highlighted that Telegram`s moderation teams are diligently working daily, removing a substantial volume of material. This content not only pertains to various fraudulent schemes but also includes messages inciting violence or promoting subversive actions.
The announcement of call restrictions for both Telegram and WhatsApp users was previously made by Roskomnadzor. The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation clarified that full service functionality would be restored for these applications once the respective companies demonstrate compliance with Russian legal requirements.
