Tesla`s driverless taxi service has attracted the attention of American regulators due to reported violations.

Federal safety authorities in the United States have initiated an investigation into instances where Tesla robotaxis allegedly violated traffic laws. The local regulator reportedly became interested in Elon Musk`s company`s passenger service just one day after its launch.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed to journalists that they are aware of reported cases where Tesla`s autonomous vehicles violated traffic rules. Representatives for the authorities stated, “After evaluating reports and other relevant information, NHTSA will take all necessary actions to protect road safety.”

According to reports, following the launch of the Tesla driverless taxi service, videos appeared on social media platforms purportedly showing cars carrying passengers violating traffic regulations. Based on the published videos, the robotaxis allegedly perform dangerous maneuvers, including driving into oncoming lanes, braking abruptly, and exceeding speed limits. The taxi is controlled by the autopilot system, although an operator is present in the front passenger seat.

Previously, American billionaire and activist Dan O`Dowd criticized Elon Musk`s driverless taxi service, labeling it as “not real.” Commenting on the positive reactions to the robotaxi launch seen on social media, O`Dowd stated, “Tesla cultists are celebrating victory.”
