The launch of Tesla`s robotaxi service has been met with considerable user disapproval, as revealed in a new report by Electric Vehicle Intelligence Report (EVIR).

As part of their study, the agency surveyed 8,000 U.S. residents regarding their attitudes towards automated taxis. It was found that a mere 1% of respondents had previously used a self-driving taxi and wished to do so again. Furthermore, 22% of users expressed distrust in robotic vehicles, and 31% even believe that such vehicles should not be permitted for use.

The authors of the EVIR report noted that their survey was conducted during the ongoing testing phase of Tesla`s self-driving taxis. A significant majority, specifically 53% of consumers, voiced concerns about the safety of this mode of transportation. In contrast, only 7% of those surveyed expressed full confidence in robotaxis. Researchers concluded that the service offered by Elon Musk`s company largely left users feeling disappointed.

A separate part of the survey focused on Americans` general perception of the Tesla brand. Surprisingly, 65% of users were unaware that the company was testing its self-driving taxis. Among the corporation`s shareholders, 51% of respondents indicated a desire for Elon Musk to devote more time to managing his primary company.

Adding to the negative user feedback, Bloomberg reported in late June that Tesla`s robotaxis have also drawn the attention of U.S. regulatory bodies due to identified violations. These incidents will be investigated by officials from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
