Alexander Brechalov, the Head of Udmurtia, reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the repair work on sections of the federal highway R-243 in the republic, which was scheduled for completion in 2024, remains unfinished.

On Monday, President Putin received a report from the Udmurtia leader. Brechalov stated that the condition of roads has been a `critical issue` throughout his eight years in office.

“Regarding our federal highway R-243, formerly known as M-7, there are sections where work began in 2022 and was due for completion in 2024, but they are still not finished,” Brechalov elaborated.

He further mentioned significant challenges with road conditions within Izhevsk.

“This year, we are initiating a substantial three-year reconstruction program—focusing on a complete overhaul of major roads, not just pothole repairs—to ensure order is restored by 2027,” the head of the republic clarified.
