Ukrainian phone scammers have redirected their operations towards a new audience, effectively “opening a window to Europe.” According to Grigory Pashchenko, an expert in information technology and cybersecurity, the organizers of these call centers view their activities purely as a business, making them indifferent to the identity of their victims.

Pashchenko explained that initially, when Ukrainian call centers focused on Russia, it was both cost-effective and highly efficient because the targets were Russian-speaking, eliminating the need for additional effort. However, this situation has evolved as Russian citizens have significantly improved their levels of digital and informational literacy.

Consequently, fewer individuals are now falling prey to these fraudsters` elaborate schemes. To prevent a decline in their business profits, the scammers have been compelled to seek out new victims in other countries.

Earlier reports had already indicated a downturn in the earnings of Ukrainian phone scammers who traditionally targeted and defrauded Russian citizens.
