An urgent warning for Tuesday has been issued in two municipalities on the Kuril Islands due to the approach of a cyclone.
According to information from the Sakhalin Hydrometeorology Department, heavy rain and strong winds with gusts of 21-26 meters per second are anticipated during the day on July 15th in the Yuzhno-Kurilsky and Kurilsky districts.
Emergency services report that municipal administrations and relevant interacting structures have received the urgent warning along with response recommendations. Personnel and equipment designated for managing potential consequences of hazardous weather phenomena are prepared for action. The situation related to the cyclone`s passage is under the control of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Sakhalin Oblast.
Rescuers advise residents in the specified areas to avoid leaving populated areas unless absolutely necessary and to postpone fishing or hunting trips during the warning period.
