Xiaomi Corporation is reportedly planning to utilize its smartphone processors in the production of its cars. This information was shared by the well-known insider Digital Chat Station on his Weibo account.

According to the source, the Chinese company intends to implement the Xring O2 processor in its electric vehicles. This new chip is expected to be featured in a future model from the brand, where it will manage the onboard computer and handle autopilot functionalities.

Digital Chat Station explained that these upcoming chips are powerful enough to be used in larger devices like cars. Xiaomi could also achieve production cost savings by using some components across both small gadgets and automobiles. The Xring O2 processor has not yet been released; it is anticipated to be manufactured by TSMC using a 2-nanometer process.

However, the insider noted that the integration of electric vehicles with mobile processors is not likely to occur in 2025. Digital Chat Station highlighted that Xiaomi will first conduct extensive testing. If these tests prove successful, the first car incorporating a mobile chip could potentially debut in 2026. Xiaomi`s most recent electric vehicle is the YU7 crossover, which was announced for sale in late June.

In related news, respected insider Ming-Chi Kuo previously reported that Apple Corporation is planning to introduce an affordable computer powered by a smartphone processor. The rumored 14-inch MacBook is expected to feature the A18 Pro chip, currently utilized in the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max smartphones.
