The AMD Ryzen 5 5500X3D processor, the most affordable model featuring X3D technology, is no longer exclusive to the Latin American market. Initially launched solely for LATAM, this chip – similar to the Ryzen 5 5600X3D but with lower clock speeds and a more accessible price – is now expanding its availability.

Although it was released with a regional restriction on June 5th (likely 2024, given the context of its sale), this chip has now appeared for sale in the United Kingdom. This suggests a wider global rollout, despite AMD not having made a public announcement regarding its broader availability. It was listed at £179.99, which translates to approximately 207 euros.

AMD Ryzen 5 5500X3D: An Attractive Option Thanks to its Price and DDR4 Support

The AMD Ryzen 5 5500X3D features 6 cores and 12 threads, built on the AMD Zen 3 architecture. Its compatibility with the AMD AM4 socket is a significant advantage, especially given the current memory market situation. It performs optimally with DDR4 RAM at 3200 MT/s, allowing users to avoid investing in more expensive DDR5 memory and newer platforms.

This processor operates with a base frequency of 3.00 GHz and reaches 4.00 GHz in Turbo mode. Its main feature is 3D V-Cache technology, providing it with 96 MB of L3 cache. It has a base TDP of 105W and supports the PCI-Express 4.0 interface. It's compatible with a wide range of AM4 chipsets, including X570, X470, X370, B550, B450, B350, and A520. In comparison, the Ryzen 5 5600X3D offers slightly higher frequencies (3.30 GHz base, 4.40 GHz turbo), which accounts for a difference in performance and cost.

The introduction of this processor reinforces AMD's strategy to keep the AM4 platform alive. As early as 2024, with the launch of the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, AMD had indicated its intention not to abandon a platform with such a large installed user base, especially amidst the high prices of newer platforms.
