Samsung Galaxy A57 and A37 Launched: Enhanced Performance and Smarter Cameras
Samsung has officially unveiled its latest mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37. These new devices blend established hardware features with significant enhancements, reinforcing Samsung's presence in the competitive mid-tier market.
While adhering to a proven design philosophy, both models introduce notable improvements in areas such as processing power, camera capabilities, and long-term software support, focusing on refinement over radical alterations.
Key Innovations and Enhancements
A significant upgrade lies within their core processors. The Galaxy A57 now features the Exynos 1680 chipset, and the Galaxy A37 is equipped with the Exynos 1480 chip. Both new processors are manufactured using a 4nm process, promising substantial improvements in overall performance, efficiency, and sustained operation compared to their predecessors.
Regarding the camera system, Samsung maintains a familiar configuration: a 50MP primary sensor, complemented by an ultra-wide-angle lens (12MP on the A57, 8MP on the A37), and a 5MP macro camera. The primary emphasis for this generation, however, is on enhancing low-light performance. This includes improved night photography capabilities and refined overall image processing, indicating a strong reliance on software optimization and AI-driven enhancements to boost photographic output despite similar hardware.
Consistent Features and Extended Support
The company retains several successful features from previous models, such as:
- Vibrant 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ displays offering a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
- A robust 5,000mAh battery supporting 45W wired fast charging.
- Convenient in-display fingerprint scanners for secure access.
Notably, features like wireless charging and a dedicated telephoto lens for optical zoom remain absent in these models.
However, arguably the most compelling aspect isn't the hardware itself, but the commitment to long-term device support.
Both the A57 and A37 come pre-installed with Android 16, overlaid with Samsung's One UI 8.5 custom interface. Samsung has committed to providing an impressive six years of software updates and security patches for these devices. This level of extended support is particularly noteworthy in the mid-range category, where many smartphones often lack sustained long-term updates, impacting their usability over time.
The Galaxy A57 is offered in Awesome Navy, Awesome Icyblue, and Awesome Lilac color options, starting at $549.99. The Galaxy A37 is available in Awesome Lavender, Awesome Charcoal, and Awesome Graygreen, priced from $449.99.
