Thermaltake TR100 Koralie: A Limited Edition PC Chassis with Unique Classic-Inspired Styling
Most PC cases tend to be quite homogeneous, prioritizing component compatibility and optimal airflow, which often results in standardized formats. Those seeking an aesthetic that breaks from the conventional usually turn to custom chassis or less-known brands. However, Thermaltake disrupts this landscape with its limited-edition TR100 Koralie, a design that surprisingly evokes the warmth and intricate detail of traditional crochet textiles.
Desktop computer aesthetics have largely remained unchanged for decades, generally adhering to the rectangular or square formats of the ATX standard. While older gaming PCs were characterized by aggressive designs and static lighting, the current trend leans towards sobriety, ubiquitous RGB illumination, and tempered glass panels that allow for admiring the internal components.
Thermaltake Unveils Limited Edition TR100 Koralie with Handcrafted Design
Thermaltake, a company renowned for its peripherals, power supplies, and cooling systems, is also a significant player in chassis manufacturing. They have launched innovative models such as THE TOWER 300 or the RETRO series, which cleverly fuse 80s nostalgia with modern functionalities, like replacing a 3.5" bay with a display. The TR100 Koralie, however, takes a different approach, presenting a design reminiscent of handcrafted blankets by our grandmothers, thereby combining an old-world charm with current technology.
Far from being a direct inspiration from crochet, the Koralie design is a sophisticated amalgamation of styles, with clear references to Art Deco. It blends classical elements with modernity through geometric figures. This is evident in the repetitive semicircles at the top, which display simple, firm, and consistent lines. In the lower section, the design incorporates floral motifs and other geometric ornaments. The side panels feature a combination of these patterns alongside a cylindrical honeycomb-like structure, completing the visual theme. The front panel, for its part, creatively blends the floral and geometric elements seen on the sides to generate diverse compositions that break with repetitiveness.
TR100 Koralie: Identical Interior to TR100 ITX, Priced Around 150 Euros
Although its appearance is novel, the TR100 Koralie is essentially an existing version of the Thermaltake TR100 ITX case, but with an exterior design born from a collaboration with French artist Koralie, whose vision was to "transmit beauty and tranquility." Internally, it is identical to the original TR100, meaning it supports Mini-ITX motherboards, graphics cards up to 360 mm long and 70 mm thick (with a PCIe 4.0 riser), and CPU coolers up to 68 mm (a tight fit for premium low-profile options like the 70 mm Noctua NH-L12S).
For optimal cooling, the case allows for the installation of 240 mm or even 280 mm liquid cooling systems on the top panel, adding an extra touch of RGB lighting if desired. It supports SFX and SFX-L format power supplies. As optional accessories, transport wheels can be purchased, along with a 3.9-inch front display kit for 135 euros—a price remarkably close to that of the case itself, which retails for approximately 150 euros.
