Packaging and Accessories
The be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6 arrives in a classic black be quiet! branded box, showcasing the product’s design on the front and its key features on the back. The technical specifications are detailed on one of the sides.
Inside, the cooler is well-protected by robust cardboard framing, with accessories neatly organized in a separate box. A screwdriver is provided separately.
The package includes the user manual, mounting hardware for both Intel and AMD processors, a syringe of thermal paste, and the convenient mounting screwdriver.
be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6 Design

Unboxed, the Dark Rock Pro 6 presents itself as a substantial and imposing cooler with a striking all-black aesthetic. Its weight of 1.336 kg further emphasizes its robust build.

The cooler features a high-quality black plastic shroud on its sides and top, accented by a brushed aluminum plate on the top with the be quiet! logo.
Dual Tower with 45 Aluminum Fins

The be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6 boasts a dual-tower design with 45 aluminum fins, measuring 147 x 140 x 169 mm. Its 169 mm height requires consideration for case compatibility. Each tower is penetrated by seven U-shaped, 6mm diameter heatpipes designed to efficiently distribute heat across the fins. Notably, the lower heatpipes on the right side are cut to accommodate tall RAM modules.

The heatpipes connect to a large, polished nickel-plated copper base. This base is responsible for drawing up to 300W of heat away from the CPU via thermal paste, ensuring optimal temperatures.
Silent Wings 135mm and 120mm Fans

The cooling performance relies on a pair of Silent Wings fans: a 135mm model (1900 RPM) and a 120mm model (2000 RPM).

While their speeds are PWM controllable, a switch allows users to choose between two operating modes: Quiet and Performance. In Quiet mode, the fans offer a semi-passive operation below 40% PWM, enabling complete silence for less demanding tasks. The Performance mode allows for maximum cooling, with a maximum noise level of 32.4 dBA, delivering superior thermal results.

Installation on an LGA 1851 Motherboard

For this review, installation was performed on an Intel LGA 1851 socket motherboard. The included backplate requires screws to be inserted into the outermost position and secured with rubber washers on the opposite side.

Once positioned behind the motherboard, the backplate is secured from the front with four double nuts. Two metal brackets are then attached to these nuts with four screws.

With the mounting system in place, thermal paste is applied to the CPU, and the cooler is secured with two screws using the provided screwdriver.

The Dark Rock Pro 6 is compatible with AMD AM5/AM4 and Intel LGA 1851/1700/1200/115x sockets, supporting a wide range of contemporary consumer processors.
Test Setup and Methodology

The following hardware was used for the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6 review:
- Chassis: Thermaltake Core P3 TG Pro
- Motherboard: MSI MEG Z890 ACE
- Processor: Intel Core Ultra 9 285K
- RAM: Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 CUDIMM 8400 MHz
- Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition
- Power Supply: be quiet! Dark Power 14 1000W
- Operating System: Windows 11 Pro

Thermal performance was analyzed using AIDA64’s stress test on the CPU and memory. After a 5-minute warm-up period to stabilize temperatures, the average temperature was recorded over the following minute.
be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6 Performance

In this review of the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6, we found its performance to be somewhat surprising, though not entirely positively. With a high TDP processor like the 295K, the cooler struggled, reaching very high temperatures around 95°C. While it maintained this with a sound level of 48.3 dBA, which is audible but not overly bothersome, it places the cooler at the lower end of our ranking, clearly outperformed by even mid-range triple-fan liquid coolers.

Conclusion

We conclude the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6 review with mixed feelings. While it promises to dissipate up to 300W TDP with its dual-tower design and dual fans, it fell short of expectations when tackling the high thermal load of the 285K processor. For such a demanding CPU, more robust cooling capacity is needed. However, for less power-hungry processors, it should perform adequately, potentially with even lower noise levels.
Availability and Price
The be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6 is available starting today with a recommended retail price of €109.90. While this price point is a bit high considering its performance limitations, it excels in aesthetics and offers one of the simplest mounting experiences on the market.
