Preview Bloodborne Animated Film Announced, Co-Produced by JackSepticEye

Fans of Bloodborne have been eagerly awaiting a remake or remaster for PC or consoles for over a decade, but their hopes have remained unfulfilled. There’s even no PC port or PS5 upgrade, meaning players are limited to the original experience. Given the lack of further development for this exceptional FromSoftware title, many fans had resigned themselves to the belief that there would be no more gaming content. However, it appears the journey of Bloodborne is far from over.

It has been revealed that Bloodborne will receive a film adaptation in the form of an adult animated movie, with the popular YouTuber JackSepticEye serving as a co-producer.

For many, Bloodborne is considered a must-play title that was exclusively released for the PS4. However, the PS4 is a 2013 console, and is no longer widely available. While you can play Bloodborne on a PS5, you will still be constrained by the disappointing 30 FPS, offering the original experience but with slightly more stability. Despite selling millions of copies and a persistent fan community clamoring for at least a patch or update to enable 60 FPS and 4K, such an official enhancement never materialized. In fact, the 60 FPS patch for consoles was created by a modder and is not official.

It Seemed Like a Joke, But It’s Real: Bloodborne is Coming to the Big Screen as an R-Rated Animated Film

Sony shows no signs of creating a remaster or remake of the game, and the studio responsible for remakes like Demon’s Souls, Bluepoint Games, has reportedly been dissolved. While there might not be any further gaming content (you can always play on PC with ShadPS4), at least there will be a cinematic adaptation. Sanford Panitch, the president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, has confirmed the rumors regarding a Bloodborne animated film. This adaptation will be R-Rated, meaning it’s the second-highest rating available and will require individuals under 17 (or 18, depending on the region) to be accompanied by an adult to view it.

What was unexpected was the involvement of the YouTuber JackSepticEye. For those unfamiliar, he is one of the world’s most popular YouTubers. While he may not be in the Top 100 as consistently as before, he boasts 31.2 million subscribers. Like many other YouTubers, he began over a decade ago by uploading gameplay videos of titles such as Dark Souls, Battlefield 3, Crysis 3, and others, without showing his face. He later specialized in horror game content, vlogs, and comedy series, but beyond that, he has also shown a strong interest in the film industry.

YouTuber JackSeptic Eye Will Co-Produce the Bloodborne Film Adaptation Alongside Lyrical Animation, the Team Behind the Death Stranding Adaptation

Regarding the animated film itself, Sony has stated that it ‘will be very faithful to the original tone’ of the game. This means we can expect the characteristic gothic aesthetic, a dark atmosphere with Lovecraftian horror elements, and, of course, explicit violence. The YouTuber will serve as co-producer for the Bloodborne animated series, which will be produced by Lyrical Animation and PlayStation Productions. This strategy aligns with Sony’s broader aim of creating works based on video games to boost the popularity of its franchises.

However, the case of Bloodborne is a bit peculiar. Unlike series like Fallout, which saw increased game sales following their adaptations, or other adaptations used to promote newly released games, Bloodborne is a PS4 title released in 2015 with no subsequent entries. Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are also involved in adaptations of Helldivers and The Legend of Zelda, the latter of which recently wrapped up filming for its cinematic adaptation with Shigeru Miyamoto serving as director.
