Preview Grand Jury Seeks Reddit User’s Identity Over ICE Criticism

A grand jury is reportedly attempting to subpoena Reddit to reveal the identity of a user who posted comments criticizing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the wake of a fatal shooting incident. On the evening of January 7, 2026, ICE officer Jonathan Ross fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis. Ross was publicly identified shortly thereafter by The Intercept, which also published his biographical information, with other news outlets subsequently following suit. In the aftermath of the shooting, users on Reddit engaged in discussions regarding the incident, the officer involved, and the agency itself. One of these users has now become the subject of the grand jury’s investigation.
