Preview GTA 6: Official Cover Art and Pre-Order Date Announced – June 25th

Rockstar Games has taken a significant commercial step for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6): pre-orders for the game will officially commence on June 25th. These pre-orders will be available through digital storefronts and a selection of physical retailers. The announcement is accompanied by the official cover art for the game, which will also be available as downloadable art from Rockstar’s official website.

This news is important as it marks the true beginning of GTA 6’s launch campaign. Until now, the game’s official page primarily allowed users to add it to their wishlists on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but not to pre-order. With this date, Rockstar is beginning to ramp up its pre-launch operations and opens the door for key details, which have yet to be communicated, to be revealed on June 25th: price, potential special editions, pre-order bonuses, and exact territorial availability.

GTA 6 Pre-orders Will Begin Next June 25th

The launch of GTA 6 is still officially scheduled for November 19th, 2026, and Rockstar has announced PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the confirmed platforms. The official website does not currently list a PC version, so, barring a new announcement, official communication continues to focus solely on current-generation consoles. This means PC users will have to wait. For reference, GTA 5, its predecessor, took 1 year and 7 months to arrive on PC after its console debut.

The primary setting will once again revolve around Vice City, within the fictional state of Leonida, a reinterpretation of Florida. Rockstar describes a story starring Jason and Lucia, a couple who become entangled in a criminal conspiracy after a heist goes wrong, forcing them to rely on each other to survive.

This move also has strategic implications. After months of anticipation, delays, and speculation, opening pre-orders serves as a signal of confidence: Rockstar is now ready to convert anticipation into early sales. Furthermore, with nearly five months before launch, the announcement allows for a staggered campaign with new trailers, gameplay details, physical editions, and potential incentives linked to GTA Online.

Pending the revelation of the official price, the big question will be whether Rockstar and Take-Two opt for a traditional standard edition at a higher price, or if they will leverage GTA 6’s immense appeal to introduce more expensive premium editions, additional content, or pre-order rewards. The only confirmed information in this announcement is the pre-order start date, availability in digital stores and selected retailers, and the publication of the official cover art. Therefore, barring leaks, we will have to wait until June 25th to learn the base price Rockstar will charge for its Grand Theft Auto VI.
