Intel typically releases a new processor generation annually. While the main Intel Core CPU range is well-known, Intel also introduces other processors in between that often go unnoticed. For instance, much of the focus has been on the newer Intel Core Ultra 200K and 200K Plus series, but Intel has also launched processors based on the Bartlett Lake architecture. Although Bartlett Lake may utilize the latest technology, the Intel Core i9 273PQE is particularly interesting given the current landscape, as itfunctions with DDR4 RAM and offers quite good gaming performance with its 12 cores.

The Bartlett Lake processor first surfaced in2024, with expectations of its release that same year. Ultimately, this didn’t entirely materialize, as while several CPUs were leaked, they weren’t precisely for PC use. In 2025, news of Bartlett reappeared, this time withBartlett Lake-S, CPUs featuring up to 12 P-Cores designed for theLGA 1700 socket. This would have allowed for motherboard reuse along with DDR4 memory.

Intel Core i9 273PQE Tested in Games: Will its 12 P-Cores Measure Up?

A month ago, we finally saw the performance of the Bartlett Lake-S CPU, specifically the Core i9 273PQE, which even managed tooutperform the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and the i9-13900 in Cinebench R23. Now, we have this same Intel Core i9 273PQE to assess its gaming performance using an RTX 5090 to ensure no graphical limitations. It doesn’t have a strong start here, as inBaldur’s Gate 3, it achieves an average of 101.8 FPS, falling behind a Ryzen 5 9600X with 104 FPS, ani5-14600K with 105 FPS, or even the 5800X3D with 115 FPS. InCities Skylines 2, the results are much better, reaching the level of an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K with68.1 FPS, performing almost identically to the7800X3D with 68.6 FPS.

Moving on toDeath Stranding 2, itoutperforms the i9-13900K by 8%, and its 119 FPS places it on par with a Ryzen 9 9950X or a 7600X3D. In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, it performs at the level of an i9-12900K and a Core Ultra 5 225F. InF1 2025, it achieves the same129 FPS as the i9-13900K and is just 2 FPS behind the i9-14900KS. Regarding Indiana Jones, it performs like an i5-14600K and an i7-13700K, and similarly in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. In other games, the i9-13900K remains slightly superior.

Average Performance 20% Lower Than i9-13900K, Demonstrating Intel’s Hybrid Architecture Was the Right Path

In benchmarks such as HandBrake and 7-Zip, the i9-273PQE performs at the level of the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, indicating similar performance to gaming. InCinebench R24, it’s also not as impressive, performing like a Ryzen 7 9800X3D or a 6-year-old Ryzen 9 5950X. Looking at the average results, the Intel Core i9-273PQE achieves an average of 64.8 points out of 100, slightly ahead of an i5-14600K and slightly behind a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The i9-13900K, with double the cores, reaches 78.3 points, and of course, the AMDRyzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition reigns supreme with100 points out of 100.

Regarding power consumption and efficiency, the Intel Core i9 273PQE, with only 12 P-Cores and 0 E-Cores,consumes 132W, which is 20 watts less than the 152W of the i9-13900K and 45W less than the 177W of the 14900KS. In terms of FPS per watt, the i9 273PQE slightly outperforms the i9-13900K but is outperformed by Ryzen CPUs, as the9800X3D, 7600X3D, 7500X3D, and 7800X3D are twice as efficient.
